Your daily role

 As agriculture Technician your responsibities will be:

  • Seed management including database transfers, unload seed, stack totes and bags, set up and distribute as required;
  • Pack planning and grower contracting including communicating with growers on a variety of topics including sustainable development practices, integrated pest management, and agronomic charter;
  • Planting-related activities such as ensuring all growers fields and field history data is entered, locate fields, monitor crop emergence, andprepare maps as required;
  • Crop scouting program, collecting data, complete reports, and update database; with issues to be corrected prior to harvest; trials; schedules, and ensuring that data is entered;
  • Ensuring crops are harvested at optimum maturity and delivered on schedule;
  • Schedule to those receiving the fresh product, and communication issues;
  • Food safety and GMP protocols and report any concern to your supervisor;
  • Make appropriate recommendations to growers for fields identified;
  • Develop, follow, and analyze crop research and variety development;
  • Pre-grade program involving testing maturities, preparing sample;
  • Harvest coordination by facilitating pre-harvest programs and spray program by coordinating crop protection activities;
  • Fall crop receiving by scheduling loads with growers, and check grower records for accuracy and compliance;
  • Maintain communication between field operations and production;
  • Support the Agriculture Manager in the direction of custom harvesting;
  • Must work in compliance with established health and safety, HACCP.

Your profile

  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related discipline.
  • Agronomic certification (advantage).
  • Farm/crop production experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Mechanical background.
  • Food processing knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently.
