Under the supervision of the Director of General Accounting and as a Senior Accounting Analyst, you play an essential role in the monthly accounting closing process.

You prepare accounting analyzes and reconciliations for complex balance sheet and income statement accounts, while working on various continuous improvement and innovation projects related to finance and accounting.

You will also contribute, with the accounting team, to various operational projects within the company, as needed. You will ensure compliance with national and regional tax laws and other regulations; an interest in tax compliance is therefore essential.

THE ROLE:

  • Lead and take responsibility for monthly financial reporting and compliance for your assigned country;
  • Serve as a resource person for all accounting and tax-related questions within your area of expertise;
  • Participate in the monthly accounting closing process, including:
  1. Prepare and record recurring accounting entries;
  2. Perform balance sheet account reconciliations;
  3. Prepare and record the various accounting provisions;
  4. Prepare and record provisions for current and deferred taxes;
  5. Contribute to the preparation of annual tax returns for US entities;
  6. Prepare and record inventory valuation and provisions;
  7. Prepare the regulatory monthly financial report, including the combined financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement);
  • Examine and analyze balance sheet accounts;
  • Examine and analyze the different accounts of the income statement;
  • Prepare various accounting or management reports;
  • Participate in the preparation of audited annual consolidated financial statements, including notes and annexes;
  • Prepare the audited annual financial statements of the US operating entity according to US GAAP standards;
  • If necessary, analyze new commercial transactions from an IFRS perspective and prepare accounting processing notes;
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls;
  • Participate in certain aspects of the budgeting and/or forecasting process;
  • Assist in the management of various audits (internal and external audits, tax audits, etc.).

PROFILE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance (or equivalent);
  • CPA title (or equivalent);
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting;
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector and/or agri-food industry, an asset;
  • Experience in tax reporting and compliance, an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and good command of US GAAP standards;
  • Knowledge and/or interest in tax legislation (including US);
  • Collaboration, ability to establish good relationships with other team members;
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to adapt to change and identify areas for improvement;
  • Proficiency in processing large data sets in Excel;
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Bilingual: French and English (fluency in both languages in order to interact with stakeholders in Canada and the United States.
