Under the direction of the Vice President Human Resources, Health, Safety and Communications, and as Director of Health and Safety for Canada and the US, you are responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of health and safety policies and programs across all of our sites to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all Nortera employees.

You will work in collaboration with the team of OHS coordinators, as well as Nortera site management. In your role, you will benefit from the support and commitment of all management!
THE ROLE:
Strategy and Policy Development
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures and programs consistent with local, national and international regulations;
- Develop comprehensive strategies to reduce risks and promote a culture of safety within Nortera's manufacturing and logistics sites.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess and prioritize risks (health and safety) across all operations;
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to minimize risks.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance of our policies and practices with all relevant health and safety laws and regulations;
- Implement an environmental compliance management system to ensure that sites comply with environmental laws, regulations and permits;
- Manage internal and external audits and coordinate with regulatory authorities.
Training and Awareness
- Design and supervise health and safety training programs for all levels of the organization;
- Promote a culture of health and safety through awareness initiatives and regular communications.
Incident Management
- Oversee incident management, including accident and incident investigations;
- Train teams to analyze the root causes of incidents and ensure that corrective actions are implemented to avoid recurrence.
Reporting and Analysis
- Develop regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Use data and analytics to continually improve programs;
- Organize monthly meetings to advance health and safety with operational teams and quarterly with management;
- Develop environmental impact reporting tools and provide analyzes of these impacts to management.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Influence and establish credibility as an OHS expert with the Nortera management team and plant and site directors;
- Provide leadership and supervision of skills development to the health and safety team (matrix or direct reporting link with factory health and safety coordinators);
- Work closely with coordinators, to ensure that policies/practices and guidelines are deployed and followed consistently across all sites;
- Collaborate with all departments to integrate health and safety best practices across all Nortera operations and sites.
PROFILE:
- University degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, risk management or related fields;
- Certification as a security professional, an asset;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, with significant experience in health and safety management at the Canadian or North American level in the manufacturing environment;
- Experience in health and safety management of several sites;
- Experience in environmental compliance and knowledge of ISO standards (an asset);
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian and American health and safety standards, laws and regulations;
- Excellent communication, leadership and team management skills;
- French/English bilingualism;
- Analytical mind and ability to solve complex problems;
- Proactivity and ability to take initiatives;
- Sense of organization and effective time management;
- Adaptability and flexibility in a multicultural environment;
- Willingness and ability to travel to the various Nortera sites (13 Canadian and American sites).
