Base salary
Your daily role
The Field Scout technicians are responsible for monitoring and ensuring healthy crop growth through scouting, distribution, planting assistance and harvest field assistance. Daily duties include:
- Monitor growth and development of sweet corn and green pea fields
- Monitor and report European Corn Borer populations by setting up traps in sweet corn fields
- Management of insect traps to help determine timely pesticide applications
- Uses GPS and quad to track planted acres and create maps
- Report weekly pest counts to growers, Nortera Management and AVG(P) board
- Records organized data on company databases including Microsoft and excel sheets.
- Assists in the distribution of seed to growers
- Gathers samples to determine when the crop is ready for harvest
- Helps train and build up harvest crews
- Maintains communication with management team, harvesting crews and field mechanics.
Your profile
Your Profile
- Diploma or an Interest in Agricultural Studies
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Able to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Lift 60lb bags
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
- First Aid, ATV and FL training considered an asset.
