Under the supervision of the Director of Purchasing and Replenishment, you will be responsible for purchasing the packaging category necessary for the operations of our plants in Canada and the United States, in accordance with the following business needs:
- Build, in collaboration with key operations players, supply solutions to guarantee the reliability of operations;
- Support safety, continuous improvement and food safety programs with innovative solutions;
- Provide competitive sourcing solutions to achieve productivity goals.
THE ROLE:
Management of purchasing categories:
- Develop the strategy and roadmap for the packaging purchasing category;
- Propose, communicate and implement an action plan to achieve productivity objectives;
- Develop an internal network to identify needs, prioritize projects and implement them in close collaboration with key operations players;
Sourcing:
- Carry out and analyze calls for tenders and negotiations with potential suppliers;
- Ensure the application of the negotiated conditions;
- Ensure all conditions are defined in our procurement systems so that users can purchase according to plans;
- Define and monitor KPIs;
Optimization and cost control:
- Ensure market monitoring and needs analysis;
- Participate in the budget process with operations stakeholders;
- Identify and lead productivity projects with the production department;
- Monitor savings made through management control (Cost Out) and promote added value (Value In);
Facilitator:
- Propose and implement purchasing and supply processes;
- Help build, evolve and communicate manufacturing standards;
- Recommend the best solutions taking into account suppliers' offers and services in order to provide added value to customers;
- Ensure that Nortera employees can use manufacturing services under the best conditions of safety, cost and quality.
PROFILE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing and supply, related to the packaging category;
- Bachelor's degree in purchasing, production and operations management, engineering or equivalent business experience;
- Master’s degree in purchasing and supply chain – an asset;
- French and English bilingualism (category management across Canada and the United States);
- Strong analytical skills;
- Strong negotiation and communication skills;
- Project management skills and excellent organization;
- Ability to identify processes requiring improvement and recommend solutions;
- Strong ability to convince.
