Reporting to the Director of Accounting and as Director of General Accounting, you are responsible for the monthly production of reliable, accurate and timely financial reports, as well as the preparation of annual audited financial statements.

You manage the monthly accounting closing process while encouraging continuous improvement and process innovation.

You are also responsible for leading and developing a team of general accounting professionals and play a vital role in preparing for the future growth of the organization.

THE ROLE:

  • Supervise, assign and evaluate the work of the accounting team ensuring that the quality of work meets and exceeds established standards, while providing feedback for continuous improvement;
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies;
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial/state laws in Canada and the United States;
  • Oversee tax planning, compliance and tax reporting (US/Canada);
  • Guarantee the integrity of the system during monthly operations;
  • Review and approve monthly account reconciliations and accounting entries;
  • Review monthly financial statements by country and prepare consolidated financial statements;
  • Review the analysis of the monthly consolidated balance sheets prepared by the accounting team;
  • Prepare correspondence and regular reports to keep managers and management informed;
  • Lead semi-annual reviews and year-end audits in collaboration with external auditors;
  • Annually lead the preparation of the audited combined financial statements, including all notes and annexes, in collaboration with the external auditors;
  • Assist the Director of Accounting with other audits (taxation, internal controls, etc.);
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls;
  • Participate in certain aspects of the budgetary and/or forecasting process (other industrial costs, provision for inventory, other expenses, taxes).

PROFILE:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive and relevant experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance;
  • Membership of the CPA Order (or equivalent);
  • Bilingual French/English;
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or agri-food sector (an asset);
  • Experience in tax reporting and compliance (an asset);
  • Previous successful experience in management and/or supervisory roles;
  • Excellent leadership and written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and familiarity with USGAAP;
  • Good knowledge and/or interest in Canadian and American tax legislation (income tax and sales tax);
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to adapt to change, identify areas for improvement and develop best practices.
